Adele Cordner
Poet, Playwright
I am delighted to launch The Kitchen Sink Chronicles, my debut poetry collection. The book is my personal account of family life through the early months of the pandemic of 2020. It was wonderful to collaborate with my talented daughter Florence who illustrated the book. We were separated by the pandemic, but brought together by our creative project which was a comfort to us both through a difficult time.
From the poems...
The Shape of Things
In a crystal sea, shapes of crimson
shift on the tide,
intricate spheres, perfectly symmetrical
patterns on repeat.
Swallow Chick
when, suddenly, there she is, my swallow chick
perched high on the aerial, so proud to be home.
I’d recognise those bright eyes anywhere.
The Empty Space
It left behind its uppermost boughs, left them
hanging high, raggedly torn but balanced
in the limbs of its neighbour, swaying in calming wind.
